Emerson FC-400 "Aristocrat" (1940)
(Catalin tube table radio)

Emerson FC-400 "Aristocrat" (1940)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This Emerson model FC-400 was introduced in the fall of 1940, and was styled by the well known industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes. The "Aristocrat" was the brother of the "Patriot," but by no means the stepbrother, differing only in color schemes. They both became Emerson best sellers. All of these radios had Catalin cabinets, with two color grille inserts, and spring-loaded handles. This particular Aristocrat color was described by Emerson as "natural onyx," which over the years has turned into a soft light yellow with some swirling. All the Aristocrat models had brown and white grilles. This set is in just about mint condition with no cosmetic issues at all. It's all original with none of the common problems associated with this radio, like warping or shrinking of the case. A nice reproduction back is on the set. It has been checked by a professional, and is playing fine, picking up all my local AM stations, not that it matters, as I don't think you own this radio to listen to it. It's true Eye Candy. About 11"W x 7"H x 6"D.
