Zenith 6-D-413 (1939)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-413 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This 1939 pre-War Zenith model is a very hard-to- find classic Art Deco radio. It has a turbine look, which is a very rare and unusual design by Zenith. The chassis has been checked completely, everything needing changing was done, including a new cord. There are no cosmetic issues like chips or cracks or other problems. This radio is part of Zenith history as it was one of the only sets Zenith ever tried to recall. Zenith's President, Commander McDonald, became interested in the possibility of using Bakelite for molding radio chassis. After the 6D400 line was introduced in 1939, Zenith heard from technicians and owners alike that the fragility of the Bakelite chassis, and the heat created by the inverted tubes, were creating maintenance problems. This radio is currently playing and picking up a lot of AM stations clearly all around me, but it is 80+ years old, and I would not use it for extended periods. We all like old sets to work, but go to Kmart and buy a cheap radio if you want to listen to one all day! If it was good enough for Clark Gable, it's good enough for you! About 11"W x 6"H x 5"D.
