Coronado 623 (1938)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Coronado 623 (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

In 1925, Bertin Gamble and Philip Skogmo opened Gamble Auto Supply in St. Cloud Minnesota. By 1928 they had 55 stores and had moved the headquarters to Minneapolis. They diversified, and one business made tubes under the Coronado name. They started producing Coronado radios and sold them in Gambles Department stores, and later on in Western Auto Stores. The 623 is a six-tube, two-band (SB,SW) radio. Blake started by replacing all of the capacitors. He checked resistors and tubes, replacing where needed. He installed a new power cord, audio cable, a new antenna lead and a a safety fuse. This is a very good performing set with great sensitivity across the dial. Gary stripped and refinished the walnut cabinet, ending up with a nice "piano" lacquer finish. The radio has the original knobs, speaker, dial scale, and a reproduction grille cloth was added. This is a nice Coronado for anyone's collection, at a great price! 18"W x 10"H x 8"D.
