Halson 50S Mini-Tombstone (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Halson 50S Mini-Tombstone (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This small Halson Radio Corp (New York, NY) Tombstone radio is an impressive performer for a five tuber! It is in none of my books, but I believe it to be the 50S, as it is extremely close to the 50S schematic in Riders at 7-4. Tube lineup is 6A7, 6K7, 75, 43, 25Z5 and 40A2 Ballast. It is a superheterodyne design and covers the broadcast band and two short wave bands (1.5-4.5 MC & 6-18 MC). It is a sensitive receiver on all bands, and has a beautiful airplane dial! It has been electronically restored but the finish appears to be original (grille cloth is new) and the grain and inlay is beautiful!. There is a hairline crack at the right side bottom, but it is hardly noticeable; the finish is a little thin on top front. The dial is really colorful and clear and stands out. Serial number S722395. This small and apparently rare radio would be a great addition to any collection! Shipping weight is 16 pounds. 14-1/2"H x 10-1/2"W x 8-1/2"D.
