Crosley 5H1 Tombstone (1934)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Crosley 5H1 Tombstone (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

In 1920, Powel Crosley Jr. introduced the first low priced radio for $20 and soon became the largest producer of radios in the world. It earned him the reputation as the "Henry Ford of Radios." This beautiful full-size tombstone radio with its chrome escutcheon and green back-lit dial is striking to behold. The 5H1 is a five-tube, two-band (SB, SW) radio with a 6-inch electro-magnetic dynamic speaker. Blake has replaced all the paper/wax capacitors with new Mylar caps and replaced the tubes and resistors as needed. He aligned the set to perform like new. Gary has restored the original faux finish to perfection and refinished the cabinet with a toning lacquer to a semi gloss sheen. The speaker, dial scale and knobs are original, and the chassis has its original zinc oxide coating. A schematic is available "on line" but an actual picture of a 5H3 Crosley is not. This is a very limited production radio! 16"H x 14"W x 8"D.
