Zenith 3R (1923)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

I'll admit that I am not a big collector of the very early battery sets, but I have a ton of respect for Marconi Era Radio History. This 1923 Zenith four-tube radio is right up there with the best of that history. It is serial #337959. Now, anyone who knows this set knows that the pot metal knob shafts on this set lock up tighter than a bull's ***, but they are all good on this set. The previous owner worked on this set, and all knobs turn as they should. You can see in the pictures that the two right lower knobs have been replaced, and the rest are all original. There is a coating of what I believe is shellac on the cabinet and front panel that I honestly don't know if it is original or done many years ago. I've only seen two or three of these in my 40+ years of collecting. Radio is untested, but I would not be surprised if it works if you care to try it. This is a seldom offered piece of early radio history. 23-1/2"W x 10"H x 9-1/2"D.
