Majestic 2C60AP (1939)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Majestic 2C60AP (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a rare "Mighty Monarch of the Air" Majestic model of which I have never seen another example. The six-tube chassis is either a model 260 or 2C60AP judging by the corresponding schematic. Most examples with this chassis were housed inside a console cabinet. This may have been a prototype as there are factory Majestic labels inside the cabinet but no model number anywhere. 1939 Majestics were their first models to have a chassis mounted loop antenna and it's apparent this set up fit better inside a console cabinet. Model mystery aside, the cabinet is quite stylish and has been completely refinished by the previous owner to a smooth gloss sheen. It has excellent reception with the built-in loop antenna. AM/SW with tone control and five push-button pre-sets. The sixth button must be depressed for regular dial tuning. The chassis has been gone through with all new filter and paper capacitors, strong tested set of tubes, controls cleaned and lubricated, and much brittle wiring replaced for safety. If you collect rare, unusual, potential prototype sets, this is a great example! 14-1/4"W x 9"H x 10"d.
