A ONE-DAY WONDER!

Here's a fantastic Philco "Boomerang" record-in-slot radio-phonograph from 1949. To play a record, you simply open the front door, insert the record in the slot, and close the door. The record self-centers on the turntable and starts playing automatically. At the end of the record, an automatic shut-off stops the turntable. Click here to see a video. This player is compatible with both 10" and 12" records, but only plays 78 RPM records, having been brought to market just as 33 RPM LPs were coming out but not yet widely adopted. The phonograph mechanism works perfectly, and has been fitted with a modern PowerPoint phono cartridge for good sound quality. The chassis has been fully restored with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced, a strong set of tubes installed, IF transformers replaced to eliminate silver migration disease, and a full alignment performed for good sensitivity and dial calibration. The original power cord is still in good shape. Lighted dial. 17-1/2"W x 11"H x 15"D.
