Electromatic AR-501 (Cuba, 1947)

NEW!Hecho en Cuba! Here's something you have likely never seen before -- a radio from pre-Communist Cuba. The chassis appears to be a typical US-made All American Five manufactured by Electromatic, a short-lived American radio and phonograph brand from the late 40s. The cabinet, however, was made in Cuba as indicated by the stamping on the back and the label inside the cabinet. The chassis (similar, but not identical to US model AR-501) was likely shipped from the US and combined with the Cuban-made cabinet for the Cuban market. Although the styling of the cabinet is unremarkable, it appears to be made of solid pieces of Caoba or "Cuban Mahogany." It retains its original finish. The chassis has been fully restored to work like new, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced, new resistors where needed, a good set of tubes, and a full RF/IF alignment. The power cord has been replaced with a modern polarized cord along with modification of the power switch circuit for improved safety. Lighted dial. 11-3/4"W x 7-3/4"H x 6-1/2"D.  $125.00. (1310227)
