Delco R-1126 "The Companion" (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Delco R-1126 "The Companion" (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

United Motors Service out of Kokomo, Indiana sold automobile radios under the trade name Delco. They were purchased by GM in 1918 and produced radios and electrical parts for GM for many years. The Deco 1100 series radios for the home market were well made and highly collectable. Each one has a factory nickname, the R-1126 is called the "Companion." The R-1126 is a six-tube, two-band (AM,SW) radio. We replaced all of the capacitors with modern equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. We installed a new power cord, safety fuse and an audio input cable. The tuning eye is bright and active. Gary stripped off the old Walnut finish and skillfully brought the beautiful veneer to life, ending up with a gorgeous lacquer "piano" finish. The original knobs, chassis and speaker are with the set. A new crystal-clear dial cover and period correct grille cloth were installed. This radio is a good performer across the dial. 15"W x 9-1/2"H x 7"D.
