DeWald 406R "Pee Wee" Bantam (1939)

A ONE-DAY WONDER!

Beautiful example of this elusive prewar "Pee Wee" sized (Bantam) Plaskon radio. This was professionally painted by an auto painter friend who does custom painting & has been in the business for over 40 years. In addition to three or four coats of the ivory/red, he also clear coated a few coats for the glossy factory new look. Absolutely no flaws (near mint). What a beauty complete with the original Plaskon knobs and red Plaskon feet (not repro). A great example of a hard to find Art Deco radio. It is a sweet radio, with the coveted red trim including lighted dial (reverse gold painted with red lettering), knobs, factory feet. The cabinet was designed by George W. Walker who is best known for his work at Ford Motor Co & is noted for his design of the 1955 Thunderbird. It is a very clean, compact chassis as you can imagine with nice repro back. It is a fairly recent restore electronically & plays very well across the dial picking up all my locals with the short antenna wire. It is just very, very difficult to find one of these in any condition much less primo like this one. Great Deco appearance with the desirable color scheme & louvers, etc. You can easily hold in one hand. From my personal smoke free collection & ready for play/display. Approx. 6-1/2"W x 4-1/2"H x 4"D.
