Emerson CV-298 "Stradivarius" (1939)
(wood tube table radio w/Ingraham cabinet )

Emerson CV-298 "Stradivarius" (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!
A ONE-DAY WONDER!

This Emerson CV298 "Stradivarius" with its the unique walnut "tiger stripe" and "square dial" is the only one that I have seen anywhere...excuse me for calling it rare! Ingraham cabinet highlighted by "book matched" veneer with the stripes extending from one end to the other matching in length and width. The "fiddleback" top veneer is another remarkable detail that other Strads do not exhibit. The rarely seen model CV-298 Square-Dial version radio in stripped walnut is a very hard one to find as not many of this model square dial were ever sold. The cabinet has been beautifully refinished in a smooth lacquer warm satin finish. No stain or toners were used to maintain an original factory look including the black bottom. By 1939 radios had advanced to having an internal loop antenna and the D-Dial CL-256 didn't have enough room inside the cabinet for the antenna; therefore Emerson had Ingraham slightly increase all the measurements of the CL to accommodate the new CV-298 chassis + antenna. The radio's elegant violin shape, sounding cutouts & inlays & grille bars that resemble the strings of a violin are unique. The radio still retains its original black Bakelite knobs, metal Ingraham tag and CV-298 stamping on the bottom. The gold painted metal dial is original and in great condition. Restored & plays well. I pack very well & ship promptly. 11"W x 6-1/2"H x 6"D.
