Detrola 302 (1939)
(wood tube clock radio)

Detrola 302 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This cute little Detrola 302 is sometimes called the "teardrop" radio due to its shape. It was a pretty good seller for Detrola and quite a few have survived. The fully restored five-tube chassis does local stations fairly well on the internal antenna, with a screw on back for an external antenna. A previous servicer modified the chassis to eliminate the dangerous "curtain burner" resistive power cord. The 4-inch speaker has a couple of small, professional repairs. I gave it a coat of the Parts Express Wet Look coating and the sound is surprisingly good! The finish is slick and gorgeous. I do not think the clock is original, but it keeps perfect time. The back cover is missing a small piece from the lower left corner and had to have some repair work done. All that said, this is a really nice example of this unique little radio. One of these sold on the Attic for an amazing $995 last year. Wow. I won't be that greedy. 10"H x 9"W x 6"D.
