Get a load of this gorgeous Zenith model 707 from 1933. The cabinet is a masterpiece of design, with striking, detailed marquetry top and bottom, composed of four kinds of wood and extremely ornate. The walnut burl front is beautiful. The three-tone bookend sides set it apart from your average mantel radio. The back cover is actually solid wood and looks as good as the front on many radios! The chassis has a rare, metal bottom cover for a quieter receiver. The larger than average, perfect 6-inch speaker gives it pretty darn good sound. My usual thorough chassis restoration produced a pretty good player, with a very accurate dial. I worked hard to save the very nice original finish, and overcoated it with six coats of gloss lacquer. It looks better in person than the photo booth made it. A few flaws, but very slick and shiny. I think the grille cloth is original, but not sure. Very rare. Only one has sold on the Attic, at $799 in 2018. This is an extraordinary, hard to find, uniquely designed radio. Sure hope someone will give it a good home. Requires an external antenna. 18"W x 7-1/2"H x 8-1/2"D. $699.00. (1680197)
