Zenith 5-S-338 (1939)

NEW!This Zenith 5-S-338 Chairside (released in 1939) is a unique five-tube, two-band AM/Shortwave radio. Designed to be placed next to a sofa or easy chair, it stands out with its distinct Southwestern Art Deco styling, an iconic "racetrack" dial, and built-in push-button station selectors. The 5-S-338 incorporated premium Walnut and Mahogany veneers offset by a curly Maple front bar. The 5-S-338 is considered a highly scarce model among vintage radio collectors. Because Zenith produced so many different chassis variations and specialized cabinets that year, surviving models in original, good cosmetic condition are highly sought after. The radio does play and plays well but in this instance, I did not restore the chassis, it was restored by a friend and fellow radio club member. The chassis is in excellent condition.
