RCA 40X-56 "New York World's Fair" (1939)
Sold by David Spivey on March 20, 2015
Listed price on date of sale - $749.00
A very collectable and hard to find commemorative RCA radio highlighting RCA's involvement in the 1939 New York World's Fair. The molded front panel depicts scenes from the 1939 fair, featuring the dramatic Trylon and Perisphere structures, as well as the RCA building. This was an important event for RCA, as President Roosevelt opened the fair in a speech broadcast on RCA television. The molded front is in excellent condition, the top and sides of the case have been refinished, and the back is original as well as the knobs. RCA made several of these theme styled 40X model cases, including the 40X-53 "La Siesta" Mexican design. The radio is playing very well picking up all my local AM stations clearly. Dial lamp also working fine. About 8-1/2"W x 5-1/2"H x 5-1/2"D.
