Kriesler 11-20

Kriesler 11-20
Sold by Jeff Lilly on December 26, 2017
Listed price on date of sale - $75.00
From Down Under comes this cute Aussie Bakelite set. It had several nicknames, including the "soccer ball" and the "plum pudding." By any name, it's a winner. It's a four-tube transformer set. Big dial that lacks numbers-- apparently, you'd tune by city and region. Two-part Bakelite shell that lets you remove the case without removing the knobs. The case has pretty marbling and is shiny. Unlike most of my sets, this one is sold unrestored, non-functional as it sits but completely original, with the original caps still in place. It was built for 220 volts and still has its Aussie mains plug. It's being sold as a display piece, but it is completely restorable if you choose. Two of the tubes are missing. At the customer's option, I can include the American equivalents (6A8 and 6B6) for an additional $10. The main flaw is a crack in the bottom shell (next to my thumb in the photo). There's also some minor chipping along the back edge of the top shell. However, the grille bars, which are often broken on this set, are completely intact. Now's your chance to pick up a set that's rarely seen in North America!
