Simplex Zephyr (1939)

Simplex Zephyr (1939)
Simplex Zephyr (1939)
Sold by Lew Magrish on September 10, 2012
Listed price on date of sale - $299.00
You are looking at a very rare radio. Made by Simplex Radio in Sandusky, Ohio, this is the first Zephyr ever offered for sale on the Radio Attic. The radio came in several versions, single colored and two colored Bakelite sets and wood versions. The radio was marketed under the Simplex label and also under Philco, after Philco bought the factory in 1939. This is the earlier version, made under the Simplex label. The condition is factory original, with all of the factory installed parts. The finish is very nice for the age and is well shown in the additional photos. Note the complete factory installed back and the ease of setting the presets on the back of the radio. My tech has done a complete repair of this radio and it plays extremely well, on a proven "All American five" tube layout. I have seldom seen this model in forty five years of collection and the condition of this example makes this a rare find. 11"W x 7-3/4"H x 5"D.
