Colonial 658 (1933)
This is an exceptional table radio! 1933 Colonial model 658. Five tubes, AM and Shortwave reception. This is a very decorative and high quality radio. The cabinet is fashioned out of the finest mahogany, with detailed inlay decorating the face and the sides. The top is further decorated with ornamental beading which accentuates the elaborate veneers. Note the delicate grille over the speaker, in perfect condition. Inside you have a high grade dual band (AM/SW) six-tube super-het circuit. The wood case is in beautiful condition. The chassis has been restored by Donald Cochrane including being fully recapped, new rectifier tube, new dial lamps and all other components such as resistors and tubes tested and replaced were bad or weak. Truetone D-724 (1939)
You are looking at a collector favorite. The radio was produced by the Detroit, Michigan, factory and offered under the Detrola, Truetone, and Silvertone labels. The radio sports a brightly lit multi colored dial measuring six inches across. The detailing with all of the clear channel stations around the parameter adds to the visual impact. The cabinet is large with a full range 8-inch Rola speaker, making the radio a terrific listening set. The cabinet is in fine shape with a beautiful new finish refinish. The speaker cloth is a correct period replacement and the knobs are factory. The chassis is a very sophisticated eight-tube super-het offering both AM and two Shortwave. Zenith 6-S-128 (1937)
Highly desired Zenith tombstone. This 1937 model 6-S-128 is a six-tube super-het that plays on both AM and Shortwave. Along with the massive cabinet, the radio offers controls to tailor the sound to your tastes along with a large 8-inch speaker. The multi colored over-size 7-1/2" dial is brightly lit by a pair of lamps. The cabinet has a very nice finish which I believe is original but I am not 100% sure (but it looks great!). The speaker cloth is an excellent. The iconic embossed wood "Z" knobs are factory originals. An excellent and strong player, the chassis has been rebuilt with all new capacitors and all tubes testing strong. The clockwork tuning condenser assembly was lubricated and the dial belt replaced. All four tuning indicators were replaced. All functions operate perfectly. 22-3/4"H x 16-3/4"W x 12-1/2"D. Shipping will be a bit higher due to the large size of the radio. Zenith 6-S-229 (1938)
1938 Zenith model 6S229. Beautiful tri-color black 6-inch lighted dial which Zenith made famous and still a favorite of most collectors. This six-tuber was just restored electronically with all capacitors replaced and any other components such as tubes and resistors replaced if tested bad or weak. Plays loud and clear as it should. The original factory faux finish which was often destroyed is still there and looks great. The wooden "Z" knobs dial, etc. are all original. New polarized power cord installed. Chassis is very clean.
