I am not a Ham radio operator, but I put a long antenna on it and it did pick up quite a few Shortwave stations. The lights work and it has a battery pack in it for battery operation. It has all it parts and is a clean radio. It comes with the instruction manual. I only clean/lubed the pots and gears but did not restore it. So I can only guarantee it will turn on (lights include) and pick up shortwave stations when it arrives. You can only return it if the above does not happen. These run close to $1000 in Japan. You see them untested for $325 to $500 and tested above $500. So my price is a bargain for one that works.
