Zenith 9-S-365 BC/SW (1939)
(wood tube console radio w/SW)

Zenith 9-S-365 BC/SW (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

BC+2SW. This Robot dial Zenith is a rare bird, known as the "Stars and Stripes" set. It is a 1938 model 9-S-262 which hastily had pushbuttons added to it so that they would have something to sell in the first few months of the 1939 season while they tooled up for the new models, when pushbutton tuning just entered the market. This set was only made for a few months and is quite rare. The set features a shutter-dial chassis with motorized tuning, a tone switch, pushbutton tuning (pushbuttons not electrically functional, details provided), Zenith acoustic baffle speaker, original wooden knobs and a brand new tuning eye tube! The cabinet is a stunning waterfall design that made Zenith famous with fantastic walnut and quilted maple veneers and brand new correct reproduction block pattern grille cloth. This particular set is a survivor as the cabinet top was in very poor condition, perhaps making it a parts set however I purchased it knowing that there was solid empty cabinet for a 262 awaiting on the burn pile at the Kutztown radio show and the two were happily married this winter bringing the 'ol Stars and Stripes back to looking like new again! 42"H x 27"W x 17"D.
