| Up for sale is a rare Zenith 288 Art Deco tombstone. This radio was one of Zenith's first Art Deco "Industrial" designs. Zenith called the 1934 line up of radios the "Challenger Tombstones" challenging anyone to find a better radio on the market. This eight-tube, five-band (AM,SWx3) monster has a lot going for it. AVC, tuned RF, eight-inch dynamic speaker and five selectable wave bands. This beautiful Zenith has had a complete electronic restoration and plays strong and clear with plenty of volume. The beautiful cabinet features Australian Laurel contrasted by English Walnut; add classic black trim, and you have one stunning cabinet! The cabinet is in very nice original condition, however, it looks like the very top was been refinished at some point. It was done very well.
