| A maroon Polystyrene cabinet that is very, very shiny! A far cry from Bakelite, this '48 Transitone from Philco was/is extremely susceptible to scratches. This one, however, flew below the radar and escaped with only minor wear at best! You guessed it: an ol' JD "Scale of Beauty" 10 plus'er! There were only 38k of these made from mid - '47 through '48 and retailed for around $28. Yes, it's been electronically restored and plays very well! It's a Philco! All five tubes are in good shape, too! A beautiful color! It has its original back, too! There is a very small chassis screw hairline that you can't see from the bottom that has been repaired inside the case with JB Weld (middle screw nearest back of case). Good as new! If you'd like additional pics please let me know. 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 5-3/4"D. |
