(wood tube table radio)

Philips Bi-Ampli BX998A (1955)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Very rare Philips in near mint condition. The largest, most elaborate table radio ever produced by Philips, with 16 tubes, 3 SW bands, AM, LW and FM from 88-108. Has a 9" woofer and a 6" mid/tweeter both with its own amplification; 17 panel lights, SW fine tuning dial, FM AFC, AM pre-set, Bass and Treble. The most unique thing is its tuning. Each band selection and function is done with motorized tuning which cycles through the bands and stops on the band selected. The rotating antenna is controlled by the ring surrounding the new EM34 magic eye. The cabinet is as near mint as it gets for 52 yrs. old with its original finish in black and cherry lacquer. Original back is great as is the speaker cloth. Radio functions perfectly both mechanically and electronically. Huge at 28"W x 17-1/2"H x 12-1/2"D; weighs 65 lbs. Local pickup only due to size, weight and possible shipping damage. More pictures and information available upon request. A hard to find rare radio in excellent condition.
