Atwater Kent 228 Cathedral (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Atwater Kent 228 Cathedral (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is the rarest and most sought after of the A-K super-hets. A powerhouse with eight tubes, this is a transitional set. The radio has the toggle switch on the side for the distance local, as this was a an early super-het, before automatic volume control was added inside the circuits. They made very few of these sets, and you can see the extreme craftsmanship they added to the cabinet. This is the nicest example I have ever seen, with all of the factory installed parts. The condition is fantastic. My tech has given all of the repairs the electronics needed and then some. These were extremely sophisticated radios, and the chance to work on one delighted him. The result is a tremendous radio, inside and out. Note the fine reproduction silk power cord and Bakelite plug. You will enjoy listening to this radio. 19-1/2"H x 16"W x 11"D.
