Clinton 176 Tombstone (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Clinton 176 Tombstone (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

As I search for radios for my page, I always try to find the really scarce sets. This Clinton is just that kind of set. Made in the mysterious "Plant A," this Chicago made radio is the only example I have ever seen, after 45 years of collecting. Plant A was the 1930's "skunk works" in the Chicago radio manufacturing world. The radio is a six-tube super-het, three band receiver. The dial is really special, and I encourage you to study the second photo. The dial lights change color and position as you change the bands. This is one of the most unusual dials I have seen. The cabinet is an older refinish, with a couple of "flea bites," and I sense the speaker cloth is replacement. The detail and craftsmanship are fantastic. The radio has the remnants of a decal under the middle switch, perhaps a house branded radio. My tech has given the radio a complete repair and it plays beautifully. He has added a fine reproduction silk power cord and new Bakelite plug for your safe use. Stunning looks and outstanding performance, makes this rare set one to own. 17-1/2"H x 11-1/2"W x 10"D.
