Airline radios were the house brand label for the famed Chicago retailer and catalogue of Montgomery Wards. They bought a wide selection of radios from dozens of factories. Like most retailers, they offered a wide range of price points and different qualities. This model was made for them by Colonial Radio. Colonial was considered a premium factory in the early 1930s. The radio before you is a early five-tube super-het that offers Broadcast only. The cabinet has been nicely refinished and the speaker cloth is an exact reproduction of the original. Note the ornate metal inset knobs, a striking addition to the classic good looks. Les has completed his highly professional repairs and the radio is a terrific player. Les has added a mini-jack so you can input any modern device. Enjoy listening to content from your phone, pad or computer and enjoy an unlimited choice of content.
