Crosley 59 "Showboy" (1931)
(wood tube table radio)

Crosley 59 "Showboy" (1931)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

You are looking at one of the strangest and rarest early table top radios. This whole series made by Crosley Radio from Cincinnati, Ohio were crafted by injected repwood cabinets. This was a mixed process of rubber and wood, creating a sculptured appearance like no other radios of the era. This series were all very primitive in electronics and offer acceptable reception in urban areas but require a dramatic level of antenna in more rural areas. This radio is a six-tube model and was the very last of the series. The circuits are early, but this being the last model, offers a superior speaker to the other models. The sound quality by using the mini-jack/Bluetooth is quite good. All is factory original with the radio, with the exception of the speaker cloth which is a replacement. My technician has restored the radio to like new performance and the radio is stable in performance. Note this cabinet is very thick and uniquely heavy in nature. The scarcest of the series, this is a tremendous find. Bluetooth is available for $25 additional. 13-3/4"H x 12-3/4"W x 10"D.
