Zenith 6-S-229 (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Zenith 6-S-229 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

You are looking at one of the iconic tombstones that made Zenith famous. The brightly lit 6-inch dial was the source of the "black dial" fame with fly wheel tuning. The radio is a six-tube super-het which receives both AM and Shortwave. The cabinet condition is original and showing a small measure amount of wear for the 85 years since it left the factory. I noted the unusually fine gloss finish the radio retains from the factory. The cabinet is quite nice and factory original condition. The luster is so great; I had an issue with glare, so please excuse my photos. The speaker cloth is an accurate replacement and the radio is complete with the iconic wood "Z" knobs, all original. The radio is a tremendous player with great selectivity and sound quality. My tech has done a complete repair with all of the aged parts which have failed being replaced and those that might be prone to future failure. He added a mini-jack to allow you an unlimited choice of content along with a fresh power cord and plug for your safe operation. These radios are a collector favorite, which good reason: they are terrific radios. Bluetooth is available for $25! 18"H x 13-1/2"W x 10-1/2"D.
