Microphone Promotional Radio (1954)
(plastic other radio)

Microphone Promotional Radio (1954)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

These five-tube promotional "Mike Radios" were produced, marketed and sold to radio stations throughout the 1950's. They were sold by Universal Publicizers Inc. located in Chicago, IL to specific radio stations to publicize their stations. I believe they were presented to advertisers in appreciation of their business. They only were made with an on/off/volume knob, as they were pre-tuned to just the one station being promoted. This particular station was KXLR located at 1150 on the AM dial. But, they can be adjusted to pick up any AM station on the dial by adjusting with a diddle stick, which I will include with the radio, along with instructions of how to use it. The plastic case of the radio is in excellent condition, no cosmetic damage. The back and the front are identical, and the back just clips onto the front snugly. All parts are original, including the label on the bottom base. And the radio was tuned to one of my local stations, and plays fine. This is definitely more of a part of Americana radio than for everyday use. But it does work fine when tuned to your favorite AM station. About 11"H; base is about 7" diameter.
