Emerson 540 "Emersonette" (1947)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Emerson 540 "Emersonette" (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Post-War Emerson midget radio in a beautiful fire engine red professionally restored case. Super seasonal color! The Bakelite case is in excellent cosmetic condition. No repairs were necessary as it was in perfect condition. The black midget knobs are original, and the case has its original back in good condition. The radio has been recapped, gone completely thru by a professional, everything needing changing was done, and is playing fine, picking up all my local AM stations clearly. Emerson built two series of "Emersonette" radios. The prewar (1939) model CF-255 and the postwar (1947) model 540. The cabinets were similar, but internally they were very different. The CF-255 had a bizarre two tube chassis and a resistance line cord. Unbelievably, the model 540 had a full five-tube chassis with a loop antenna, made possible by miniature post-war tubes This restored painted set is a nice alternative to the red Plaskon set, which almost always has damage and/or is overpriced through the roof! They were advertised as the "World's Smallest Radio!" About 6-1/2"W x 4-3/4"H x 3-1/4"D.
