Zenith 6-D-311 (1939)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-311 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

1939 produced many beautiful and stylist radio case designs, but none better than this Zenith tabletop set, which is unlike any other design and an icon of the Art Deco period. It was one of Zenith's first sets utilizing Bakelite in the manufacturing process, and was designed by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific radio engineers. This beautiful completely original set with its streamline shape was described as Franciscan Brown in color. The radio has to its credit an appearance in one of MGM's great Andy Hardy movies from 1940, "Strike Up the Band," with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. The case is in excellent condition, with no cosmetic issues like chips, cracks, or hairline cracks. It plays fine with just a short antenna wire. The dial lamp works fine, and it really lights up the whole beautiful gold dial. It has its original knobs and the original back on the case, and both are in excellent condition. About 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 7"D. "ZENITH! The Quality Goes in Before the Name Goes On!"
