RCA 6-RF-9 AM/FM (1953)
(wood tube table radio w/FM)

RCA 6-RF-9 AM/FM (1953)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is the less-often-seen maple cabinet on this RCA AM/FM table radio -- much lighter in color than the more common mahogany cabinet. The big brass bezel is a striking example of 1950s styling. A well-designed radio with a nine-tube chassis, this set has outstanding FM sensitivity, and sounds great due to its 8-inch speaker, tone control, and 6V6 output stage. Chassis restoration included replacement of all paper and electrolytic capacitors, new resistors where needed, a strong set of tubes, installation of a fuse (for improved safety), a new polarized power cord, and a full RF/IF alignment with sweep generator for both AM and FM (hence the great performance). The transparent clear plastic dial ring is edge-lighted by two dial lights, providing a nice effect of illuminated dial numbers floating over a black background. The back is original, and this radio has a factory phono input which works perfectly with an iPod if you'd rather listen to your own program material. 17"W x 10-1/2"H x 9"D.
