RCA X-551 (1951)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

RCA X-551 (1951)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here's a classic early 1950s Bakelite table radio. The solid aluminum top fin, bottom fin, and spherical feet are clear hints of the direction styling would go in this decade -- not just for radios, but for cars and appliances as well. The Bakelite cabinet retains an excellent original shine (no cracks or chips), and all metal parts (including the perforated grille) are in superb condition. The back has a perfect "RCA Golden Throat" tag as well; D.D. Cole would be proud. The All American Five chassis has been restored to like-new condition; you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well a five-tube radio can perform and how good it sounds. Restoration included new tubular and electrolytic capacitors, new resistors where needed, a full RF/IF alignment, rebuilding of both IF transformers (no worries about future silver mica disease), and installation of a new polarized power cord with modified hot-side power switch for improved safety. The original RCA tubes are present and test very good. There is a small transparent jewel just under the top fin that serves as a pilot light. 12-1/4"W x 8-1/2"H x 6"D.
