Pioneer SX-650 AM/FM Stereo Receiver (1976)
(wood audio gear w/FM)

Pioneer SX-650 AM/FM Stereo Receiver (1976)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Pioneer's SX-650 is a fine example of a beautifully engineered Japanese stereo receiver from the 1970s. The extruded aluminum panel, finely machined metal knobs, and overall aesthetic provide a timeless example of fine instrument design. The SX-650 is a mid-range receiver with 35 watts per channel, right in the sweet spot of the market of its time. It performs well in every respect, with FET FM front end, PLL stereo demodulator, FM muting, separate signal strength and centering meters for tuning, detent-style controls, and multiple inputs to connect plenty of sources, including a preamp input for magnetic phono cartridge. This one has been meticulously restored, with all 71(!) electrolytic capacitors replaced with modern long-life caps, a full AM/FM alignment for excellent reception, and cleaning of all control, switch, and relay contacts. All bulbs and indicators work properly. It really works like new and should be good for its next 40+ years of service. The front panel and knobs are in nice condition; the faux-wood cabinet covering has seen better days, but is still very presentable. Build yourself a wonderful hi-fi system around this receiver. 19"W x 6"H x 14-1/2"D.
