Heathkit GR-21 and GRA-21-1 (1962)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

FM stereo broadcasting was brand new when Heathkit introduced this FM stereo system. It has two units -- the GR-21 FM radio, which could be purchased as a standalone, and the GRA-21-1 stereo multiplex unit with the stereo converter, the second audio amp, and second speaker, which could be added to create a stereo system. This system works like new, with good reception and great stereo sound from its big 6x9-inch dual cone speakers. The oiled walnut cabinets look great. The two units have a total of 11 tubes plus solid state rectifier, all fully restored with good tubes, new electrolytic capacitors, new resistors where needed, new power cords, and a meticulous alignment (absolutely necessary for best stereo sound). The necessary cable between the units is provided. It works with its built-in FM antenna, but performs better with a wire antenna. A fun feature is the front panel "Separation" control that allows you to hear the L+R and L-R audio separately if you're curious, and to mix them properly for perfect stereo sound. The GR-21 includes a front panel tuning eye tube, and both units have lighted dials. Relive the early days of FM stereo with this nice Heathkit system! Use it as originally designed, or add my Better Bluetooth option to play your own program material. Each unit is 15-1/4"W x 8-1/2"H x 6"D.
