Airline 62-318 "Movie Dial" (1936)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Airline 62-318 "Movie Dial" (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Highly sought after and very difficult to find, table top Airline movie dial sets very seldom leave collectors' hands. Made for Airline by the high-end manufacturer, Wells Gardner. 35mm film with station information is ingeniously projected onto the dial glass, moving as the dial is turned. AM stations are regionalized. Bands indicated by different colors, tone position is indicated, on either side of the dial. The tuner has a fast and slower fine adjustment. The chassis is chrome plated, though has some pitting due to age, and many of the components have black wrinkle paint. The cabinet was refinished years ago and is lovely. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety) and has a new period specific cloth power cord with a Bakelite plug, plus a new green magic tuning eye. It plays very nicely on both the AM broadcast band and the two shortwave bands, as you'd expect from an eight-tube (including eye tube) super-het set with a large speaker. I have added an MP3 input so you may also enjoy your own supplied music. 22"W x 13"H x 10"D.
