General Electric H-500U "Turbine" (1939)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

General Electric H-500U "Turbine" (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Wow! How beautiful can a Bakelite radio be? Gorgeous multiple brown mottling in this Art Deco influenced radio known as the "Turbine," looking at the wonderful curvy design makes you marvel how something so small could look so cool. There were several running chassis changes in the model line and I believe this one was their last design, incorporating a 12SA7 instead of the 12A8 tube. Original knob, original intricate Bakelite back (usually missing), several minuscule scratches as seen in the pictures, but oh so shinny. The back-lit dial does have some discoloration, consistent with its age. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs, internally fused for your safety and has a new polarized power cord), and it plays very nicely on the AM broadcast band with its internal loop antenna. 9"W x 6"H x 6-1/2"D.
