Zenith 5-S-29 (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Zenith 5-S-29 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Depression era radios are getting harder to find, and this one has that Art Deco design that everyone wants, and some 80 years later, are still very collectable. This radio was designed and manufactured in 1935 for the 1936 model year. These mid-sized sets soon pushed Zenith as one of the top three companies in the world. The big, black dial consoles were the rage, and Zenith was able to incorporate those deigns and features in their smaller radios. This stunning five-tube, three-band (SB,SWx2) is still the rage. The Zenith black dial changes color with each band selected. Blake has replaced all of the capacitors with the best, new equivalents. The tubes and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. A new power cable, safety fuse and audio cable were installed. Gary stripped and refinished the cabinet to bring out the beautiful rich colors of the Walnut and Maple veneer. The original knobs, speaker and dial scale are retained. A gorgeous radio, definitely a conversation piece for years to come. 17-1/4"H x 13-3/4"W x 9"D.
