Climax ME "Angry Face" (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Climax ME "Angry Face" (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Rare, beautiful and seldom offered for sale is a Climax ME17 based on the factory metal tag on chassis. This is known as "frowny face" based on the unusual configuration of the multi-layered dial giving distinct resemblance of eyes and mouth with a unique 3D design, breathtaking dial. This multi-colored dial when lit up or not has to be one of the coolest dials going. Recent restore and brand new bright green eye tube, working as it should. The chassis maintains its factory crinkle paint and is rust free. Please take note of last pic (even the bottom has wrap around veneer...very unusual). If you collect radios because they perform well, or because they have a stylish cabinet, or because they have some unusual features, such as this gorgeous multicolored dial, this should be "the one." Produced in 1937, it is absolutely fantastic and unique in its design. It is built in five layers. The first layer is the outer dial glass, the second layer's glass with printed band scales and the oval labels TONE, VOLUME, and BAND SELECTION. Controls are integrated within the dial, which is not a common feature during that period of time. 24"W x 12"H x 10"D.
