Zenith 5-R-216 "Cube" (1937)
(wood tube table radio)

Zenith 5-R-216 "Cube" (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Zenith "Cube" radios were very popular and great sellers for the company. They started a trend with other manufacturers producing their own cube radios. Silvertone, Stewart-Warner, Detrola and others all had their version of the cube. Zenith manufactured seven varieties of radios with the "Cube" cabinet in 1937/38 and are still sought after by collectors today. This five-tube radio is a fabulous performer on the broadcast (AM) band with plenty of volume and tone. Cabinet has been nicely refinished and toned. Chassis is rust-free & was recently restored by replacing all the capacitors, bad resistors and tubes as needed. A proper alignment was done for peak performance. Note the 4-inch backlit black dial (two pilots), a highly desirable feature of the middle to late 1930's Zenith radios along with the iconic original wood "Z" factory knobs. For an all around good looking, compact, black dial Zenith, it's hard to beat this 5R216 "Cube" from 1937. The five-tube chassis is well-designed and the sound from the 5-inch side mounted, perfect original speaker. A really nice Zenith "Cube" for your collection! 12"W x 9-1/2"H x 10"D.
