Philco 53-561 "Transitone" (1953)
(plastic tube table radio)

Philco 53-561 "Transitone" (1953)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This very cool radio released in the summer of 1952 was the first of several five-tube, AC/DC, table models Philco released among its 1953 line-up. This color was called Colonial Green. Having been totally restored inside and out, this set is now in excellent, near mint condition. It picks up local stations loud and clear across the AM Broadcast band. It retains its original knobs, back panel, bottom label, and its dial lights up beautifully. Note the dial face references a "Special Services" band accessed by a switch in the back panel once used to pick up police, fire, aircraft and fishing transmissions. The only flaw is that the cabinet top has a slight, very small (non-discolored) dimple, hardly noticeable. Another great radio from my personal, smoke-free collection. About 10-1/2"W x 6"H x 5-1/2"D.
