Echoes of the World (no model number, 1936)
(wood tube table radio)

Echoes of the World (no model number, 1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

A truly unique, one of a kind radio that more than likely is the only one ever produced! This five-tube set has no model or chassis number. The style of tubes would date it to around 1936. The dial face, which is beige in color yet lights up green, says "Echoes of The World," which was a later slogan used by Echophone Radios. There are scales for three bands, yet this set is AM only! The cabinet was made by Spencer-Cardinal of Marion, Indiana. The typed label from them inside the cabinet says "Sample #39-45," meaning this cabinet was a proposed sample that may never have gone into production! In fact it may be the only cabinet like it ever made! It is my belief that this set was a prototype to be considered for production, but never got to that stage. The chassis has been completely cleaned & gone through with all new capacitors, new volume control & off/on switch, good set of tubes that tested strong, & a new line cord. It plays strong across the dial with just the attached wire antenna. The grille cloth & wood knobs are original. The cabinet was completely refinished using spray toners. 12"W x 8-1/4"H x 7"D.
