Airline 103 Tombstone (1934)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Airline 103 Tombstone (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Other manufacturers made all of the Airline radios for the famous Montgomery Ward company. The company was one of the largest retailers in the country with a tremendous catalogue business, second only to Sears and Roebuck. An order from one of these companies represented mega-business to the various factories that serviced them, so they were able to buy the best. The insides of this radio are clearly the product of Detrola Radio, one of the best makers of the era. The elaborate fan-shaped dial with intricate measurements on all bands, and the internal electronics, demonstrate the high quality of the set. The footprint of the radio makes it an impressive set. You can clearly see how well made the radio is by the use of decorative moldings. There has been a measurable amount of restoration done to this set, and the work was very good. The radio leaves here playing extremely well. 17-1/2"H x 16"W x 14"D.
