Aetna 451 (1936)
(x tube table radio)

Aetna 451 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Aetna Radio was a house brand for Walgreen Drug Stores in the 1930s. Like so many of the other Chicago base retailers, both stores and catalogue companies, they sold their own line of sets. They, like all of the others, contracted the manufacture of these sets to factories and labeled them with their name. This radio was clearly made by Detrola, a Detroit Michigan maker of especially good quality. There are several highly similar models with the Detrola dial, but the graphics of this one are very special. Please look at the extra photos that I have posted with this set and you will see how stunning the dial looks in a darkened room. The radio has been updated with new filters and caps. My technician added a new cord and plug for safety. I think the radio would benefit from a reconed speaker, if this is going to be your listening set, as it seems to sound a tad muffled. I will admit to being fussy, but regardless, this is one super radio to own! This radio a decently sized unit measuring 14-1/2"W x 11"H x 8"D.
