General Electric J80 Cathedral (1932)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

General Electric J80 Cathedral (1932)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This beautiful GE J80 hails from a time when the radio was a central component of the household. The gorgeous, Gothic style stained-glass window cabinet reflects the importance manufacturers and customers placed on their radio purchase. The eight tube chassis was designed for reliability and performance, and connected to a 10 inch speaker to fill the house with sound. The deep chassis is mounted on unique shock insulated rails and is very heavily constructed. While the 88-year-old cabinet has a few minor flaws, it is overall in excellent condition, and I gave it an extraordinary, slick finish. I even cleaned and lacquered the inside of the cabinet. The original grille cloth is still very presentable. All capacitors and resistors have been replaced. All eight tubes test to new specification for years of trouble-free service. It is fairly large and heavy, so shipping will be a bit higher. Overall, I think it is one of the nicest examples of the GE J80 you are likely to see. 19"H x 14"W x 10-1/2"D.
