Zenith 6-S-528 (1941)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Zenith 6-S-528 (1941)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

One of the last of the pre-war radios, the Zenith 6S528 is very attractive and packed with features, including the latest innovation from Zenith, the "wave magnet" internal antenna, shortwave, and pushbutton tuning. The original finish on this one was very nice except for some tape damage on the right side (never put tape on an antique radio!) and a few specks in the finish. It was too nice to strip it, so I just put 8 coats of lacquer over it. The result, while not perfect, is very nice. I fabricated a much safer solid state rectifier and installed it, but the original tube can be put in there if you feel lucky. The back was too bad to fix so I had to make one. Knobs and pushbuttons are original. All new caps, resistors as necessary, a full set of very good tubes and full alignment. The sound is outstanding. The receiver sensitivity is very good on the internal antenna, but there are external antenna screws for more distant stations. The 6S528 is much more rare than its sister the 527 (same chassis) so you probably need it to fill out that collection. I sure hope so! My kid needs shoes:) 16"W x 8-3/4"H x 7-1/2"D.
