RCA 86K Console (1937)

RCA 86K Console (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!
I don't do consoles, but a local charity had this RCA 86K Console at their fund raiser and I bought it to support their cause. It was donated by another supporter who did a reasonably decent cabinet restoration on it. I re-did the center panel slick enough to apply the RCA logo. The rest is hand finished. Not as slick as my own work, but presents fairly well. The back cover and grille cloth are not original. Broadcast, police and shortwave bands. Requires an external antenna. I gave it a full set of high testing tubes for long service life. All new capacitors, resistors as necessary, a full alignment, and I replaced all of the miserable rubber wiring. This is a very good performing radio with great sound from the large, near-perfect 12-inch speaker. This is not a common radio. Only one has ever sold on the Attic. Very much prefer local pickup. I will ship it Greyhound package service if I have to. Expect in the rough region of $250 for this. All in all, this is a great performer and not one you see every day. 38"H x 23"W x 12"D.
